Royal Palace – Silver Pagoda – Choeung Ek – Tuol Sleng Museum – Russian Market
Begin the tour of this charming capital with a visit to the city’s namesake Wat Phnom, tourist will go to Royal Palace to see the different structures of this pagoda-style compound and stroll in its beautiful garden. Silver Pagoda was named because of its floor that is comprised of 5,000 silver tiles. Continue to the nearby National Museum, hundreds of pieces are housed here including both pre-and post-Angkorian pieces. Choeung Ek is the best-known of the sites known as The Killing Fields, where the Khmer Rouge regime executed about 17,000 people between 1975 and 1979. Tuol Sleng Museum, historical museum memorializing the actions of the Khmer Rouge regime, displays photographs of men, women and children covering the walls from floor to ceiling; virtually all the people pictured were later killed. Russian Market (Psah Tuol Thom Pong) is a right place to see for antiquities and souvenirs when the tour ends.
